Round Table Discussion “Program Socialization of Dejavato Foundation”

On October 31, 2019, ELC UIN Malang held a round table discussion with Mr. Ketut Purwantoro, the founder and the director of the Dejavato Foundation. On this occasion, Mr. Ketut acquainted what Dejavato Foundation is. He said that Dejavato Foundation was established in 2005 and since then introduced international voluntary service to Indonesian in various fields. Dejavato Foundation provided programs that bring people to have personal, interpersonal, and intercultural learning processes as well as global understanding.

Mr. Ketut also explained that Dejavato Foundation was not about International Student Exchange but it was about International Volunteer Exchange. Not only university students who could join Dejavato’s programs, but also adults could join it. Some programs were also designed for young people aged 12 to 17.

By volunteering and exploring with Dejavato Foundation, the volunteers and people are immersing and surviving themselves in a new culture, escaping from comfort zone, taking on a challenge, collecting experience and learning about new thing around the world. Other challenges and opportunities of joining the Dejavato programs are people can overcome the fear of meeting new people, try new food in a foreign country, help people who need, and speak a foreign language.
